Standardisation of high throughput microdilution antifungal susceptibility testing for Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans

The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) M27 guidelines are commonly used for broth microdilution antifungal susceptibility testing of yeasts. However, these guidelines are limited to 96-well plates, limiting assay capacity. This study presents an optimized broth microdilution minimum inhibitory concentration method for high throughput screening, with minimal growth variability and maximum reproducibility, tested against ten clinically used antifungals.
